5D weaving machine development

Five-direction X–Y–W–V–Z architecture.

The development programme combines 0°, 90°, +45° and −45° in-plane reinforcement with a through-thickness Z direction.

Exact public definition

Orthogonal and bias in-plane directions linked through thickness.

“5D” refers to five reinforcement directions in this proposed Kale Texnique system. It is shown as an in-development machine and architecture programme.

DirectionOrientationFunction
XLongitudinal reinforcement
Y90°Transverse reinforcement
W+45°Positive bias reinforcement
V−45°Negative bias reinforcement
ZThrough thicknessThickness linkage

Development questions

The next work is repeatable machine control and physical architecture evidence.

Yarn-system coordination

Control of five direction sets without compromising access, tension or sequence.

Architecture repeatability

Confirmation of directional placement, density and thickness through physical trials.

Geometry range

Definition of practical size, section and near-net output boundaries.

Validation route

Microscopy, dimensional inspection and material-specific mechanical testing after preform formation.

Current status

In development

Machine architecture, sequencing, yarn control and physical preform formation are development activities. Public copy should preserve this status until the system and output are demonstrated.

Future evidence

Evidence required

Machine video, physical preform photography, yarn-path inspection and architecture-specific testing should precede any public performance comparison.

R&D collaboration

5D is presented as a defined development programme.

Collaborators can discuss relevant non-confidential direction requirements and geometry classes without treating the system as a commercially qualified platform.
